The file you selected is not in the allowed format. Re-save your file as an xlsx file and re-upload it.

You have # Ascender licenses available and your file contains # new user. Remove # new user from your spreadsheet and re-upload.

You do not have enough Ascender licenses available to invite the new user(s) in your file. Remove the # of new users from your spreadsheet as instructed by the error message and re-upload it.

This could also indicate that you have the wrong email address for a user you’re attempting to update, which would result in a new account being created for that user. Check the My Team tab in Ascender for the correct email address and make sure your sheet matches, then try again.

Invalid Email - Reactivate the User

There is already a deactivated user in your company with that email address. You must reactivate that user first before you can update any of their information via file upload.

Invalid Email - User Exists Elsewhere

There is already a user with that email address in another company or with an active Connect or Pro account. You must use a different email address to invite this person to your company.

Duplicate Email

The same email address is listed twice in your file. Determine which row is correct and delete the duplicate one.

Invalid Region

The value must match one of the standard values available in the template. Download against a new template to check against and correct your file.

Invalid <Custom Field Name> Value

The value must match one of the values you have set up for that field in Custom Fields. Confirm that the value is set up correctly in Custom Fields and then make sure the value in your file matches.

Invalid Reports to Email - Same as User

A user cannot report to themselves in Ascender. Enter the email address of a different user for them to report to, or clear or this field completely if they shouldn’t report to anyone.

Circular reporting detected. Review Reports to values.

A user cannot report to someone downstream to themselves in Ascender (e.g., if user A reports to user B, then user B cannot report to user A). Determine the correct reporting hierarchy and fix in Ascender or your file.
